There are many initiatives on federal or state level to support SMEs on with digitization. Just to mention a few:
- The Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) supports SMEs with their Mittelstand Digital initiative. The focus is on digitizing the production processes and work environments. Locally this initiative is supported by competence centers e.g. in Thuringia (an der TU Ilmenau) and Saxony (an der TU Chemnitz)
- The Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport (SMWA)launched a Pilot Project for Digital Competence beginning of February
- The State of Thuringia has a running 10-point program also focusing on the Digitization of SMEs 4.0
Each of these programs requires from our point of view a solid and careful analysis of your own strategy to develot a set of adequate options matching with the vision and mission of your organisation. This ensures that the substantial efforts related digitization are spent on the right topics.
